SP opens LVL season with four victories
The South Parkland Lehigh Valley Legion baseball team got off to a hot start to the 2023 season. Led by a strong pitching staff, the Trojans won their first four games and headed into this week in first place as the only unbeaten team in the eight-team league.

Friday, June 2
So. Parkland-
Allentown
South Parkland opened the season with a 9-1 win over Allentown.
John Friday got the win, pitching three innings and allowing just one hit and no earned runs. Ben Stay pitched three innings and allowed two hits and no runs.
Sean Superka went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs in the win. Kurt Meehan was 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI. Owen Delong went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI.
Monday, June 5
Salisbury-
So. Parkland
Three Trojan pitchers combined to hold Salisbury to two hits and one run in a 5-1 win.
Jaiden Wannamaker (2 innings pitched, 0 hits, 0 runs), Ben Stay (3 IP, 1 H, 1 R, no earned runs, 3 strike outs) and Andrew Klotz (2 IP, 1 H, 5 K) all contributed on the mound for South Parkland.
Xander Provence went 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI in the win.
Thursday, June 8
So. Parkland-
Lower Macungie
Trojan pitcher John Friday allowed just one hit and one run over five innings while striking out six batters in a 10-1 win over Lower Macungie.
Michael Kohler pitched two innings and allowed just one hit and no runs while striking out three.
Kurt Meehan went 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBIs in the game. Andrew Klotz went 2-for-4 with a run scored.
Friday, June 9
No. Parkland-
So. Parkland
The Trojans beat crosstown rival North Parkland 9-1.
Jaiden Wannamaker pitched a three-hit complete game, allowing one run but earning none while striking out six and walking just one.
Xander Provence went 2-for-3 from the lead off spot while driving in three runs and scoring twice in the win.
