NV wins four of first five in LV Legion

The Northern Valley Lehigh Valley Legion baseball team got off to a hot start, winning its first two games and four of its first five to start the season at 4-1 heading into this week’s slate of games.

Here’s a recap of the Chargers’ first five games.

Tuesday, May 30

Northern Valley-

Lower Macungie

An 8-run second inning propelled Northern Valley to a season-opening 9-1 win over Lower Macungie.

Nicholas Scott went 2-for-2 in the win with a run scored and an RBI. Only three Chargers had hits in the game, but they took advantage of 10 walks issued by Lower Mac pitchers.

Northern Valley’s Shaun O’Donnell pitched four innings and gave up just four hits and one run while striking out 10 Mustang batters and walking none to earn the win. Chase Moyer gave up one hit over the final three innings while striking out three.

Wednesday, May 31

Northern Valley-

Southern Lehigh

The Chargers came out on top in a high-scoring affair against Southern Lehigh, winning 12-8.

Leading 5-4 through five innings, Northern Valley posted eight runs in the sixth to pull away before holding on for the win.

The Chargers had just five hits in the game, while benefiting from five Spartan errors.

Nicklaus Buskirk had two hits, scored two runs and drove in one in the win.

Wesley George pitched three innings and gave up five hits while earning three runs. Nicholas Bogert pitched the final four innings and allowed seven hits and four runs while striking out five batters and walking none.

Thursday, June 1

Carbon Monarchs-

Northern Valley

The Carbon Monarchs took a 5-1 lead after two innings en route to an 8-2 win, handing the Chargers their first loss of the season.

Rich Strack pitched seven innings for Carbon, scattering 10 hits while striking out six batters.

Ten different Chargers had hits in the game.

Tuesday, June 6

Allentown-Northern Valley

The Chargers put their first loss behind them by beating Allentown 13-5.

Northern Valley led the game 7-4 before a five-run fourth inning gave the Chargers an 8-run lead.

The Charger offense was once again a team effort as eight different players had one hit each in the win.

Shaun O’Donnell pitched four innings and struck out seven batters while walking three and allowing two earned runs.

Thursday, June 6

No. Parkland-

Northern Valley

Wesley George pitched a three-hit complete game shutout in a 4-0 win over North Parkland.

Trey Sterling went 2-for-3 with three runs scored in the win.
