North Catasauqua: Crime watch meetings on hold
The North Catasauqua Police Department would like to inform residents, due to a current staffing shortage, the monthly neighborhood crime watch meetings are canceled until further notice.
When the police department is able to resume the meetings, an announcement will be made at a borough council meeting and on social media.

St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 122 Union St., will be holding its annual summer block party 6-10 p.m. June 22-24.
There will be games for children and adults, including bingo, which will be inside the air-conditioned hall, unless there is rain. Music and entertainment will be provided by D.H. Productions.
Homemade food for sale includes cabbage and noodles, pierogies, halupki, turkey barbecue and more. There will also be a bake sale and basket raffle.
Parking will be available on Race Street at the bottom of Second Street. Safe crossing on Race Street will be provided by Catasauqua Fire Police.

Friends of the Public Library of Catasauqua and Historic Catasauqua Preservation are hosting a summer pop-up shop and tea party noon-4 p.m. June 25 in the library community room, 302 Bridge St.
Come and shop for handmade arts and crafts from local vendors in the pop-up boutique and enjoy a light lunch including soup, tea sandwiches, sweets and beverages. There is no charge to browse and shop.

The borough office announced there are available openings for pavilion rentals at the North Catasauqua William J. Albert Memorial Park pavilion for July 1 and 2.

The July 3 North Catasauqua Borough Council meeting has been canceled due to the July 4 holiday.
The next council meeting will take place 7 p.m. July 17 in the basement-level meeting room at borough hall, 1066 Fourth St.

State Rep. Zach Mako, R-183rd, would like to make residents aware of an upcoming blood drive. With blood supplies low, Mako’s office is co-hosting a blood drive with Miller-Keystone Blood Center 9 a.m.-2 p.m. July 8 at Shankweiler’s Drive-In Theatre, 4540 Shankweiler Road, Orefield.

Catasauqua Community Thrift Shop, 113 Bridge St., is having a Christmas in July half-price sale on all Christmas items and clothing, held July 10-22.
Regular hours at the shop are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays.
The shop accepts donations of good used, clean clothing and household items during regular store hours. Proceeds from the shop are returned to the community through contributions that support youth and adult programs and services.

Summer fun heats up at the park with the start of the summer concert series.
The first concert of summer at the park, 701 Grove St., will be held 7-10 p.m. July 12 with Steel Creek performing.
Bring your lawn chair and enjoy a night of music at the park.
The rain date is set for July 13.

St. Mary’s will hold its 18th annual golf tournament Aug. 4 at Southmoore Golf Course, 225 Moorestown Drive, Bath.
Registration and payment must be made before July 6 and includes a round of golf, hot dogs, beer and soda available throughout the day and a catered dinner to follow by Fairview Catering.
There will be raffles offering chances to win golf items and more.

The police department would like to make residents aware Northampton County has a 24-hour emergency hotline for all human services and related emergencies.
Anyone struggling with a mental health crisis, abuse, neglect, suicidal thoughts, evictions, substance abuse, food insecurity, etc., can call 610-252-9060 for help. You are not alone, and there will always be someone available to help you.
