John Gould Jr., aka Johnnie, Uncle Johnnie and PapPap, 85, formerly of Emmaus, died peacefully June 9, 2023, surrounded by his family. Born in Pen Argyl, he was the son of the late Helen (Hughes) and John Gould Sr.
He was the owner of The John Gould Stores in Emmaus.
He was known for his presence on the Triangle, always with his coffee cup and a story.
He volunteered for WLVT-TV PBS39 for years. He was on the board at Moravian Academy and was a longtime member and pool chairman of Lehigh Country Club.
In “retirement,” he moved to Naples, Fla., where he became a licensed Realtor and worked in local restaurants. He spent his last year in Columbia, S.C. to be closer to family. He was known to always lend an ear, tell a story, give advice or a helping hand to all those around him.
He is survived by sons, John (Kim), of Columbia, S.C., Stephen (Renee), of Emmaus; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Ashleigh, Maddie, Grayson and Morgan; sisters, Velma Kistler, of Pinehurst, N.C., Carolyn Smoyer, of Clemson, S.C.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. July 8 in Emmaus Moravian Church, 146 Main St., Emmaus. Visitation 10 to 11 a.m. in the church. Arrangements were made by the Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., Emmaus.
