James D. May, 80, of Coplay, died June 7, 2023, at Arden Courts, Allentown. He was the husband of Esther J. (Aikens) May for 55 years.

Born in Sayre, Bradford County, he was the son of the late Clyde Arthur and Alice Mae (Gorsline) May.

He was a manufacturer representative at Unicast Company, Boyertown, for 10 years before retiring in 2009. Before that, he was a sales manager for Ingersoll Rand, Athens, Bradford County, for 21 years.

He served as past chairman of American Foundry Society, Piedmont and Penn-York chapter. He was a member of Sayre Elks Lodge 1148 and Rural Amity Lodge F&AM Lodge 70, Athens, was a life member of Diahoga Hose Company No. 6, Athens, and served as head trustee of Community Fire Company No. 1, Schnecksville.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Philip G. May and wife Judy of Wellsville, N.Y.; a daughter, Elizabeth A. May of Coplay; a sister, Brenda L. and husband Dr. Harvey Taylor of Sayre; a brother, Richard G. May and wife Linda of Wallkill, N.Y.; a granddaughter, Jessica and husband Jeremy Hoffman of Odessa, N.Y.; and a great-granddaughter, Laine A. Hoffman.
