CWSA approves LCA invoice

At Coplay Whitehall Sewer Authority’s monthly meeting, held June 15 at the CWSA building, 3213 MacArthur Road, board members approved an invoice from Lehigh County Authority, among others.

CWSA General Manager Matt Harleman said the LCA invoice, in the amount of $348,000, is due before the July meeting. The invoice was reviewed quickly, and board members agreed it is accurate.

A later motion was made to pay all bills including this invoice.

Chairman James Hahn reported a quote of $6,870 was received from Design Plastics Systems Inc. for a grate replacement at the Eberhart pump station. The motion to accept the cost was approved.

Hahn mentioned board members received copies of the final financial statement and audit report for 2022. A motion to accept was made and approved.

Information on the PMA conference, planned for Sept. 17-20 at Kalahari Resort, was distributed in case any of the board members are interested in attending.

A late request was received from Mark Jaindl regarding the Allentown Waterfront project and the possibility of releasing a letter of credit. The legal and management teams are investigating, and it will be addressed at the July meeting.

James Roth brought up the operational need for a cutting head to maintain pipes. Mike Melosky, operations manager in the maintenance department, spoke to the board regarding a recommended new advanced nozzle at a cost of $5,900. The new nozzle will fit CWSA’s current equipment.

This will be voted on at next month’s meeting.

The proposal of replacing CWSA walkie-talkies with noise-canceling wireless headsets was discussed. This will greatly assist with safety and communication in the field, it was reported. The cost is $4,676. This will also be voted on at the July meeting.
