Becahi summer soccer off to a hot start

Bethlehem Catholic girls, the defending Lehigh Valley Summer Soccer League champions, began the new season with three straight victories this summer at Lehigh University’s Goodman Campus.

Becahi’s season opener resulted in a 5-2 victory over Saucon Valley, last summer’s runner-up, on May 31.

Becahi went on to defeat Bangor, 6-1, on June 5 and Notre Dame, 9-2, on June 12.

“We have a full roster so that is optimistic,” said Becahi head coach Brad Kratzer. “A lot of cautious optimism for this team going into fall.”

Players include rising seniors Gabby Mutis, Lia Logaivau, Maddie Nichelson, Makenzie Davis, and Summer Hill and rising juniors Joanne Bozzi, Molly Ludwig, Sarah Gowell, and Tealyn Boyle.

Rising sophomores are Audrey VanHaute, Ella Troxell, Jaon Lee, Kristen McMenimen, Miranda Sedor, Sophia Arvelo, and Tallia Hill, and rising freshmen include Abbey Dieterich, Anna Truscott, Rio Stoudt, and Vivian Dieterich.

Rising eighth grader Tyleigh Boyle is also on the team.

Becahi’s upcoming matches are scheduled for June 14 against Stroudsburg, June 19 against Jersey Dogs, June 21 against Catasauqua, and June 26 against Palisades.

Start times vary between 6 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. For a complete schedule, the website for the Lehigh Valley Summer Soccer League is lvssl.org.
