Summer park program has begun

The Wildlands Conservancy is looking for volunteers to be on their Stream Team. Members of this team will remove unwanted vegetation and care for the young trees along local streams to improve water quality, reduce erosion and preserve wildlife habitats. Shifts will be 8 a.m. to noon every Friday June to September. Volunteers must be 16 years old or accompanied by an adult. The Salisbury Township Summer Park Program started this week at Laubach, Lindberg, Devonshire and Green Acres parks. The program will run through July 21. The hours will be 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday and 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesday evenings.

This elementary-aged program is for Salisbury Township resident’s children who have completed kindergarten through the age of 12 years old.

Participants are to register at the park location they will be attending on their first day.

There is no preregistration. Registration is required before dropping off your child for the first time. The form is available on the township website or at the parks.

The next school board meeting is 7 p.m. June 14 at the administrative building.

Lehigh Active Life senior center at 1633 W. Elm St., Allentown, will hold a Saturday night dance June 17 and 24. A DJ will be present along with refreshments. Singles and couples are welcome. There is an admission fee. For more information call 610-437-3700.

Due to a vacancy, the Salisbury Township Zoning Hearing Board is seeking applicants for the 3rd Ward seat. If you are interested in finishing out an unexpired term until January 2025, complete the application found on the township website and send it to the township building along with a resume.

The next concert in the 2023 Jerusalem Western Salisbury Concert Series will be held 7 p.m. July 8 at Jerusalem Western Salisbury Church, 3441 Devonshire Road, Allentown and will feature a local musical group, the Cedar Routes, who play folk country gospel music. The event will be held outside in the grove, weather permitting, or otherwise inside the historic 1819 Sanctuary of the Church.

The Salisbury yard waste drop-off sites are open. The Franko site will be open June 15, 17 and 26 and Devonshire will be open June 19, 22 and 24. As always, hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.
