James D. May, 80, of Coplay, died June 7, 2023, in Arden Courts, Allentown, where he was residing.
The husband of Esther J. (Aikens) May, the couple was married 55 years on June 16, 2022.
Born Dec. 7, 1942, in Sayre, Bradford County, he was the son of the late Clyde Arthur and Alice Mae (Gorsline) May.
He was a manufacturer representative at Unicast Company, Boyertown, for 10 years before retiring in 2009.
Before that, he was a sales manager for Ingersoll Rand, Athens, Bradford County, for 21 years.
He served as past chairman of the American Foundry Society, Piedmont and Penn-York Chapter.
He was a member of the Sayre Elks Lodge 1148, the Rural Amity Lodge F.&A.M. Lodge 70, Athens, a life member of the Diahoga Hose Company No. 6, Athens, and he served as head trustee of Community Fire Co. No. 1, Schnecksville.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by a son Philip G. May and his wife, Judy, of Wellsville, N.Y.; daughter Elizabeth A. May of Coplay; sister Brenda L., wife of Dr. Harvey Taylor, of Sayre; brother Richard G. May and his wife, Linda, of Wallkill, N.Y.; granddaughter Jessica, wife of Jeremy Hoffman, of Odessa, N.Y.; and great-granddaughter, Laine A. Hoffman.
