Anthony Neil Friendy

Anthony Neil Friendy, 84, of Orefield, died June 2, 2023, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

The husband of Donna M. (DeBellis) Friendy, the couple was married 57 years.

Born April 30, 1939, in McAdoo, he was the son of the late Daniel and Angeline (Billett) Friendy.

In 1956, he graduated from McAdoo High School after which he faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during a peace time era.

A butcher by trade, he started his 50-year career at the IGA in McAdoo.

He and his wife owned and operated the former C&P Grocery Store, Hazleton, from 1975-87.

He continued his career at Food4Less, then Valley Farm Market, both in Allentown.

His joys in life were fly fishing the Little Lehigh, hunting with his sons and spending time with his grandchildren.

He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Orefield.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by children Anthony F. Friendy (Michelle) of Schnecksville, Mario V. Friendy (Amy) of Sherwood, Ore., and Trina M. Johns (Neil) of Whitehall; and grandchildren Gianna, Cole, Dominic, Angeline, Angelo and Isabella.

He was predeceased by brothers Ralph and Daniel Friendy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. June 16 at St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, 1879 Applewood Drive, Orefield.

The Rev. Fr. Francis Iroot will be celebrant.

Family and friends may pay their respect 9:30-10:30 a.m. before the Mass.

Interment will be private.
