Thomas D. Devine

Thomas (Tom) D. Devine, 80, of Macungie, died peacefully June 3, 2023, at Lehigh Valley Hospital. He was the husband of Rosenia S. (Wahmann) Devine. He was the son of the late Thomas A. and Veronica A. (Duff) Devine, of Orange, N.J.

He attended Our Lady of Mount Carmel Elementary School and graduated from Our Lady of the Valley High School. He attended St. John Fisher College of Rochester, N.Y., earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and history. Before attending college, he worked for the Prudential Insurance Company of America as a 707/1401 computer operator.

He was drafted into the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam years. He was commissioned a second lieutenant after graduating from officer candidate school in 1967. He was honorably discharged and awarded the Bronze Star upon his separation from service in 1970.

After his military service, he rejoined Prudential and worked for the firm until 1984. Marketing quality plastic credit and ID cards for DataCard throughout the U.S., Europe and Japan gave him experience with a wide array of financial and public relations firms through 1987. Unfortunately, DataCard was acquired in a hostile takeover at that time. He remained in the Lehigh Valley working as the mortgage marketing director for Patt, White Co. through 1997. Edward Jones Investments, Emmaus, was his final career position (1997-2011).

He was active in the Emmaus Rotary Club; Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce; Lehigh Valley Hospital Board of Associates; Executive Committee of Cedar Crest College Board of Associates; Boys & Girls Club of Allentown; tax advisory committee, East Penn School District; Emmaus Main Street Program; Lehigh Valley Business & Professional Women and the Western Lehigh Business Council.

Calling hours will be held at The Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit, Emmaus, 9:30 to 11 a.m. June 17 followed by a service 11 a.m. Arrangements were made by the Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Homes, Emmaus.
