Gus M. Dekrell, 78, of Coplay, died June 2, 2023, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

He and his wife, Patricia J. (Gilbert) Dekrell, were married 56 years.

Born Aug. 9, 1944, in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Gustov and Rose (Eskowitz) Dekrell.

He was the store manager at Verizon, Whitehall, for 10 years before retiring in 2008.

Before that, he was the store manager of the former Silo, Whitehall, for 15 years, and previously managed multiple other locations for 17 years.

He was a past president of the Upper Lehigh Lions Club, Schnecksville.

A member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Laurys Station, he formerly served on the church council.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons Michael E. Dekrell (Jill) of Chicago, Ill., Jeffrey W. Dekrell (Heather) of Allentown, Brian J. Dekrell (Tammy) of Schnecksville; half-sister Barbara Kaunas (Jim) of Orwigsburg; and grandchildren Brittany, Evan, Kayla and Kennedy.

He was predeceased by half-brothers John and Joseph Dekrell and Arnold Braun.

A private graveside service will be held at St. John’s UCC Cemetery, Laurys Station, with the Rev. Dr. James T. Gottwald officiating.

There will be no public calling hours.
