Charles Robert Petrie, 38, of New Tripoli, died May 29, 2023, at home, due to Pelizaeus-Merzbacher disease.
Born Oct. 20, 1984, in Landstuhl, Germany, he was the son of Lu (McKenney) and Charlie Petrie.
He graduated in 2003, from Potomac High School, Dumfries, Va.
An Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America, he was a volunteer with Canine Companions, a wonderful organization that provides service dogs to increase independence to those with disabilities.
He attended A Place To Be, a fabulous therapeutic arts center, for many years.
He loved therapeutic horseback riding, most recently at Equi-librium therapeutic riding in Nazareth.
An avid fisherman, he loved playing Uno, Risk and Monopoly with family and friends.
He loved to work out, appreciated a good joke, and enjoyed watching The Big Bang Theory.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by siblings Jason Petrie, and his wife, Lyndsay Petrie, of Bealeton, Va.; sister Remi Petrie, and her spouse, Shuji Ali, of Hayward, Calif.; and his loyal and loving Canine Companions service dog, Sterling.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family in Nester Funeral Home Inc., New Tripoli.
