The Lehigh Valley Carpenter Cup roster was announced last week as the team gets ready for their first game on June 13 against defending champion Tri-Cape at 9 a.m.

The 16-team regional all-star event pits some of the best players from the Tri-State area in the Phillies sponsored event, where they need to win their first two games of the tournament in order to reach the semifinals and finals at Citizens Bank Park.

The opening rounds of the single elimination event take place at Richie Ashburn Field at FDR Park, before the tournament moves to the Phillies home field on June 26 and 27.

Several players from the Northampton, Whitehall and Catasauqua area will be part of the team.

Matthew Merced, a senior, is an infielder from Northampton. Owen Ness is a senior infielder and Matt Radar is a pitcher and infielder who are both from Whitehall.

Alternates for the team are Dylan Fosko of Northampton and John Pushkar from Catasauqua.
