Dorothy J. (Bittenbender) McCall, 91, of Macungie, died peacefully May 28, 2023. She was the wife of the late William L. McCall who died in 1995. Born at home in Emmaus, she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Jennie (Rader) Bittenbender.
She was a 1949 graduate of Emmaus High School.
She worked in retail apparel for Famous Maid and later in the fabric business at the Bethlehem Fabric Mart.
An accomplished seamstress, she shared her talent as a sewing instructor. Her skill was evidenced in the many treasured gifts she made to family, friends and charities.
She was an avid reader who stayed informed of current events.
She kept active at the gym until age 90.
She was a past member of the Emmaus Historical Society and her memories of Emmaus were of interest to her family. She cherished her family and friends and will be remembered with love and affection.
She is survived by nieces and nephews: James (Maureen) Reichl, Kathryn Pherson, Rosemary (Thomas) Benedick, Charles (April) Reichl, Dorothy (Scott) Stahl, Gerald (Sharon) Royer, Thomas (Gail) Royer, Fred Royer; sister-in-law, Lucy; several great-nieces and great-nephews. She was very close to her great-nephew Matthew Reichl who died from a brain tumor.
A graveside gathering will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Allentown, 11 a.m. June 17.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the National Brain Tumor Society, 55 Chapel St., Suite 200, Newton, Mass. 02458. Arrangements were made by the Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Homes, Allentown.
