Daniel R. “Danny” Martel, 66, of Shoemakersville, died unexpectedly on May 25, 2023, in Richmond Township, Berks County.

He and his wife, Jean M. (Ansbro) Martel, celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary in November 2022.

Born in Somerville, N.J., he was the son of the late Henry L.J. Martel and Ruth A. (Stump) Reber.

A 1975 graduate of Hamburg Area High School, he later enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps.

After serving his country for several years, he was employed as bench technician, having last worked for East Penn Manufacturing, Fleetwood, since 2011.

He attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Hamburg.

He was a member of Perry Township Game Association, Hamburg.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by daughters Danielle C. Martel of New York, Dana A. Martel of Florida, and Amber C. (Kevin) Simpson of Hamburg; Amber’s mom, Annie Martel of Hamburg; eight grandchildren; sisters Colinda M. (Alan) Hileman of Hamburg, and Lucinda J. Palubinski of Schuylkill Haven; several nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law.

He was predeceased by a niece, Ashley Hileman.
