Northampton Area School District has approved a contract with its chief of police and hired a police officer.
The NASD Board of Education voted 9-0 to approve a contract with Wilfred Williams as NASD chief of school police, initially at $65,770, July 1-June 30, 2025.
The school board also voted 9-0 to approve Robert Holler as a 10-month NASD police officer, effective May 9, at $42,840, prorated.
In other business at the May 8 meeting, the school board voted 9-0 to approve:
• Rates for the 2023-24 school year, effective July 1 - instructors: $156.53 per day; short-term substitute teachers/building substitutes: $187.84 per day (46-75 days) and $234.79 per day (76-89 days); long-term substitute teacher (90 days or more): $313.06; substitute nurse, $187.84 per day; secretaries: $15.32 per hour; instructional assistants: $15.32 per hour; lunchroom and hall monitors: $15.32 per hour; substitute custodians: $16.67 per hour; security guards: $14.09 per hour, $16.94 per hour (for 46-90 days in a continuous assignment) and $19.19 per hour (for 90-180 days in a continuous assignment)
• Security guard and hall monitors at Northampton Area High School and Northampton Area Middle School, for the summer, allowing other guards to substitute at their regular hourly rate of pay and, if necessary, substitutes at the approved substitute rate of pay
• Jillian Giandomenico, floating certified school nurse, effective Aug. 21, at $58,855, with benefits
• Jessica Moser, cafeteria monitor, Lehigh Elementary School, effective retroactive to May 3, at $14.10 per hour
• Retirements of Sheryl Lyn Padgett, special education instructional assistant, as of June 2 or last student day of 2022-23 school year; and Denise Mickley, 10-month secretary, for retirement, effective end of the day June 16
• Resignation of Katie Trainello, business, computer and information technology teacher, NAHS, effective June 5
