The Northampton boys lacrosse team earned a trip to the District 11 playoffs this season, their first in team history.
But the Kids got a tough draw in round one, having to take on the Freedom Patriots.
The Patriots are not only the defending District 11 champs from a year ago, the team was coming off a disappointing, upset loss to Easton in the EPC playoffs, 10-9.
As expected, the Pates came out hungry to open district play, and would eventually down the Kids 16-2 to ruin Northampton’s district debut.
Senior Alex Hume led the way for Freedom scoring eight goals in the game and adding four assists. Junior Antonio Solivan added four goals in the win and Jared Karabinus, another junior, scored three goals and helped on five others. Junior Alex Greenberg had a goal and three assists.
The Kids were led by Devin Bickel who scored both of the NHS goals. Jack Mengel assisted on both tallies.
The Kids will say goodbye to seniors Louis Bernal, Parker Christman, Carson Czarnecki, Jack Desh, Colin Doyle, captain Tucker Ellis, Stefan Gutskunst, Jeff Head, Kaden Hooven, captain Jack Mengel, Aidan Micheli, Brad Smith and captain Dominic Walnock.
