Looking for a bargain? Emmaus community yard sale June 3

The Emmaus High School Class of 1973 will hold its 50th Class Reunion Sept. 23 at the Lehigh Country Club. Visit the class’s website for more information: www.emmaushs73.org. The deadline to register is June 30.

Lower Lehigh AARP will meet noon June 1 in the lower level of Macungie Memorial Park Hall. Attendees should bring their picnic ticket. There will be no meetings in July or August. For more information, call Dot at 610-967-3284.

The Emmaus Garden Club will host its program, “Meet The American Rose Society” noon June 6 at Faith Presbyterian Church, 3002 N. Second St., Emmaus. Lisa Walton, a graduate of Bucks County Community College’s floral design program and an active member of the Lehigh Valley Rose Society, will discuss the rose society and its projects. She will also discuss tips on how to care for our national flower, the rose and demonstrate designing and creating a beautiful arrangement of roses. All are welcome, and light refreshments will be served.

The Emmaus Historical Society and Museum, 218 Main St., is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays. Stop by for a visit and learn more about this history-filled community. Come fla-mingle and shop at the Emmaus Historical Society’s community yard sale 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 3. The rain date is June 4. Tables of treasures will be set up at 218 Main St. in the front yard, driveway and backyard of the museum.

Housewares, home decor, lighting, local memorabilia, collectibles, indoor and outdoor furniture, books, arts and crafts, baskets, small appliances, photography equipment and blooming patio planters are just some of the treasures that will be priced to sell. All proceeds benefit the Emmaus Historical Society.

Join the Emmaus Historical Society for some fun at Yergey Brewing noon to 10 p.m. June 17. Learn more about Emmaus with an all day trivia game and enjoy an evening performance by Woodside Avenue. This is a matching tip event.

The historical society will hold its annual member appreciation picnic 5:30 p.m. June 21 at Emmaus Community Park. Those attending are asked to bring either an appetizer, side dish or dessert. Call the office to sign up. Nonmembers are welcome to attend and a charge will be collected which will include food and a membership.

The Emmaus Community Pool is preparing for another splash-tastic summer. If you would like to purchase a 2023 season pool pass, bring your completed season pool pass membership form and payment to the pool cashier during regular operating hours. Emmaus residents and senior citizens enjoy a discounted pool pass rate. Family pool passes are also available for sale, which include two adults and their dependent children aged 23 and younger and they must all be living at the same address. The pool will be open Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day.

The pool and concession stand accepts cash, checks, money orders and all major credit cards, but there will be a $3.50 convenience fee for all credit card transactions. Smoking is prohibited in the pool and concession areas. Adult supervision is required for all children 10 and under.

This summer will also feature new adult swim times for everyone 18 years of age or older. Adult season pass holders are invited to adult swim 11 a.m. to noon Tuesdays and Thursdays, but all adults are welcome 8-9 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays.

Aqua Zumba will be held this summer 6:30-7:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays with Friday as a possible make up day. There is an entry fee for Aqua Zumba after 6 p.m. for any non-passholders. If you would like to participate, line up in the shallow end of the pool, where the water is no higher than your chest, but no lower than your waist.

The Emmaus Community Pool will also offer swim lessons this summer for children ages 3-14. If interested, go to boroughofemmaus.recdesk.com to access the sign-up page for swim lessons. The website also includes important information about pool procedures, rules and upcoming events.

The pool is also hosting Flick and Floats for the first time ever. The nights will include a family-friendly movie and guests may float around or relax poolside. There is an admission charge per patron and the movie will begin 8 p.m. This summer’s films will be “Moana” June 30, “Dolphin Tale” July 28 and “Finding Nemo” Aug. 25.

The Emmaus Summer Concert Series will kick off May 28 with a performance from SteelCreek Country Music Band. All concerts will run 6-8 p.m. Sunday evenings at Emmaus Community Park and are free to both residents and nonresidents. Jay Allan’s Legend of Elvis will perform June 4 and A Pair of Aardvarks will entertain June 11.

Tunes in the Triangle will also return this summer, with concerts 6:30-8:30 p.m. The first event is scheduled June 9, with a show from the duo Rob and Marty, followed by the Castaway Band June 23.

The Emmaus Public Library will host a “long range planning” meeting 10:30 a.m. May 30. If you have ideas on how to improve the library’s services, materials or events, consider attending this meeting with Director Maryellen Kanarr and other library members. Guests are encouraged to RSVP to epldirector@cliu.org. If you are unable to attend this meeting, come to the next session 6:30 p.m. June 13.

The crochet club holds a meeting 6 p.m. every Wednesday night at the library. Crocheters of all skill levels are welcome to come with their current projects or feel free to begin a new one during the meeting with help from expert crocheters.

The library will be closed May 27-29 for the Memorial Day holiday.

The Emmaus Zoning Hearing Board meeting for May 24 has been canceled.

Emmaus Borough Council will hold a meeting 6-7 p.m. June 19. Meetings are held at the temporary borough offices, 420 S. 10th St., Emmaus. If you would like to attend virtually, the Zoom information is available through the calendar at emmauspa.gov.

The next planning commission meeting will be 7-8 p.m. June 8 and the Zoom link is available on the borough website.

The Borough of Emmaus Community Yard Sale will be 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 3 with June 4 as a rain date. No yard sale permit is required to sell items at community yard sale dates.

Faith Presbyterian Church, 3002 N. Second St., Emmaus, in partnership with the BARN Community, is conducting Vacation Bible School for kids age 3 through the fifth grade at Faith Church 6-8 p.m. June 19-22. Kids will have lots of fun with games, stories, visits from “Turq,” music and fun crafts. This year’s theme is “Bug Zone - Transformed by Our Big God.” More information and registration forms are available on the church’s website, www.Faithchurchemmaus.org. Register early as space is limited to 30.
