Patricia H.I. Yost

Patricia H.I. Yost, 95, of Allentown, died May 8, 2023, at Fellowship Manor, Whitehall. She was the wife of the late Charles W. Yost.

Born in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Jr. and Helen M. (Roth) Roxberry.

A 1949 graduate of Penn State University, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree.

She was a research chemist for Lehigh Portland Cement Company, Coplay.

She served as president of Slatington Valley 4-H Club in the 1940s, served on the budget and finance committee of the Washington Township PTA and was a Red Feather leader of the Slatington Community Chest campaign. She was a member of the ladies auxiliary of the Friedens Fire Company and a member, organizer or officer of several Lehigh County Democratic organizations.

She was secretary of the Lehikers Kamp Klub and volunteered at Kratzer Elementary School. She served on the ways and means committee of Friends of the Parkland Community Library, South Whitehall. She worked at the voting polls in the 7th District of South Whitehall Township.

A member of Jordan United Church of Christ, South Whitehall, she was a coordinator of the Peace Garden Ministry and the Crafty Ladies.

She is survived by a son, Douglas M. Yost and wife Stacy Barnwell of San Antonio, Texas; a daughter, Linda P. Sobchak and husband Peter J. Sobchak Jr. of Whitehall; five grandchildren, Peter J. Sobchak III, Jacob C. Sobchak and his wife Alyssa M., Rebecca L. Sobchak and Morgan M. and Thomas C. Yost; and two great-grandchildren, Elaine M. and Gabriel C. Sobchak.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Karen M. Yost; and a son, Dr. Jeffrey C. Yost.

There will be a visitation time 10-11 a.m., followed by a memorial service 11 a.m., May 27 at Jordan UCC, 1837 Church Road, South Whitehall, 18104.
