Hornets earn rematch with PV in girls lacrosse final

The Emmaus girls lacrosse team earned the No. 2 seed for the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference playoffs. After win in the semifinals, Emmaus will meet a familiar foe in the title game.

The Hornets (15-4) bounced back from a loss to Pleasant Valley in their season finale to beat No. 3 seed Easton, 12-9 in Thursday’s league semifinal match up. They move on to face Pleasant Valley in this week’s title game Tuesday. The top-seeded Bears (19-0) beat Emmaus for last year’s league title, but the Hornets got revenge in the district title game.

In last week’s semifinal win over the Rovers, Bri McClain led the Hornets with five goals and one assist. Emily Hollinger had three goals and one assist, while Olivia Schmidt scored a pair of goals. Natalie McKiernan and Taylor Young had one goal each, while Melea Weber had a team-high six assists. Jordyn Poll assisted on one goal. Keeper Alani Shotwell made 15 saves.

The winner of Tuesday’s league title game will earn the top seed for the district tournament, where the Hornets and Bears will be the top two seeds with sights set on another meeting for a title in a couple weeks.
