Trojans top EHS to go 8-0 in EPC meets in 2023

They came. They saw. They conquered.

The Parkland girls track and field program won the regular season EPC South Division championship and improved to 8-0 by beating rival Emmaus last Tuesday afternoon at Parkland High School, 94-55. The Green Hornets dropped to 8-1.

The Trojans were ready for the test and performed well in all sports. Naeema Salau has been great all season and last Tuesday was no different as she won the 100-meter and 200-meter sprints. Another Trojan who has been awesome this year has been Lucy Tobia and she won the 400 in 59.26.

In the field events Sammarco was a winner in the long jump, while Hailey Schimmer took the pole vault. Catherine Crampton is another Trojan who did well throughout the campaign, and she won the triple jump. Bella Dauberman won the javelin while teammate Claire Eberhardt was a winner in the shot put.

Parkland’s relay teams have been good this spring too and last Tuesday was no exception. The 4x100 foursome of Ivy Dias, Hailey Sammarco, Kaley Seide and Salau emerged victorious and set a school record in the process. The 1,600-meter relay team also won their race.

Up next for the Parkland girls is the EPC championship, scheduled for May 9 and 10 at the Whitehall Zephyr Sports Complex.
