Ann Neitz
Ann Laubach Neitz, 83, of Emmaus, died in her home May 13, 2023, surrounded by family. She was the wife of Robert H. Neitz for 58 years. Born in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late George and Hester (Roth) Laubach. Her father worked as superintendent of the Allentown Parks system, a position that enabled Ann the opportunity to grow up in the stone house adjacent to the Allentown Rose Gardens. Her childhood there and her father’s influence provided her with a great appreciation for the outdoors, which she carried throughout her life. Even in her later years, she enjoyed biking on the paths near her childhood home.
She was a proud graduate of Allentown High School, Class of 1957. After graduation, she worked for Bell Telephone, where she was employed until she married and transitioned into the role of Air Force wife. For the next 20 years, she and her husband enjoyed an adventurous life, moving around the country, living in California, Texas, Cape Cod, Mass. and Ohio, returning to Pennsylvania. She later returned to Bell Telephone where she retired as a directory assistance operator.
She served as a Gray Lady and Junior Aide at the former Allentown Hospital; she delivered meals for Meals on Wheels; volunteered as a Lioness with the Emmaus Lions Club; was a member of Friends of Allentown Parks.
She was an active member of The Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit, Emmaus.
She enjoyed baking, ice skating, sewing, traveling and accomplished her goal of visiting all 50 states. She adored her family and friends. Her door was always open. There was always a seat at her table, a meal for you to share and Tupperware filled with leftovers for you to take home.
She is survived by her husband; daughters, Rebecca Leiby (William), Amy Allan (George); son, Rob (Katie); grandchildren, George, Noelle, Samuel and James. She was predeceased by an infant son, Richard Harry; brother, Louis Laubach.
Contributions may be made to the church or to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
A memorial service will be held noon May 23 at The Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit, 3461 S. Cedar Crest Blvd., Emmaus. Calling hours will be held 10 a.m. to noon in the church. Arrangements were made by the Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Homes, Emmaus.
