At April 24 Whitehall-Coplay School Board meeting, the board approved executive matters, including the extended appointment of Fox Rothschild LLP as Whitehall-Coplay School District solicitor, two confidential settlements No. 26342 and No. 17569 and the Valley Youth House agreement for services. Whitehall Township Police Department and the WCSD memorandum of understanding was also approved.

The finance committee’s proposed final 2023-24 general fund budget was approved. This is not the final budget as there are still additional meetings for revisions.

Dhara Dekhtawala was appointed and approved to fill a three-year term on the Whitehall Township Public Library board of trustees.

All education/student committee field trips/activities were approved. The adoption of LEA policies and the Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit 21 agreement for special education services were also approved.

Operation and transportation committees presented for approval the Steckel Elementary School playground quote and the use of TransPerfect remote interpreters’ agreement for service. A process for naming the weight room was approved.

The board also approved the Whitehall High School stage refurbish project, the baseball and softball dugouts and the telecenter upgrade at Steckel and Zephyr elementary schools.

Several personnel items, such as notice of retirement or school transfer, were approved, and the compensation for coaches during the 2023-24 school year was approved. Two teacher induction participants were also approved to be compensated.
