Veterans, active military and reservists are invited to a free picnic honoring their service 1-3 p.m. May 20 at Salem United Methodist Church, 1067 Blue Mountain Drive, Danielsville. The picnic includes hamburgers, hot dogs, picnic salads, desserts and drinks.

Hope Lutheran Church’s Vacation Bible School program is scheduled for July 10-14. The classes will be held 9 a.m.-noon, with a closing program scheduled for 7 p.m. July 14.

The theme is Totally Submerged. Come dive into the Bible with the Gilligan crew on the adventure of a lifetime. Participants will be exploring the wet and wild stories from the ocean floor.

VBS is open to children ages 3 to youths completing sixth grade in June. Children must be potty-trained.
