Egypt/Cementon: Lions Club schedules event

Stop by Whitehall Lions Club’s White Cane Day event, scheduled for 9 a.m.-noon May 13 at Redner‘s Warehouse Market, 101 Held Drive, Northampton. Enjoy a free homemade baked good as you learn how the Lions help people with visual impairments.

The band Mere Mortals will perform for members and their guests 7-10 p.m. May 13 at Egypt Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7293, 5209 Springmill Road.

Whiskey Mansion is scheduled to perform May 27.

Members attend for free. There is a small cover charge for guests of members.

Laurel Fire Company, 5114 Third St., Cementon, will host a Mother’s Day breakfast 8-11:30 a.m. May 14. The menu includes scrambled eggs, western eggs, sausage, pork roll, hash browns, French toast, creamed chipped beef over biscuits, coffee, orange juice and chocolate milk.

Each mother will receive a special surprise.

There is a cost.

Registration for Camp Whitehall 2023 is being accepted May 15, 17, 18, 22, 24 and 25 at the Whitehall Township Municipal Building, 3219 MacArthur Road. Children in grades 1-6 who reside in Whitehall or Coplay are eligible to attend the camp, which will be held at Hokendauqua Park and Playground, 3417 Lehigh St.

Weekly sessions run 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. weekdays June 19-Aug. 4, There will be no camp July 3-7.

Busing will not be available. Campers must bring their own lunch and beverages.

Camp activities will include sports, arts, crafts and swimming.

Egypt VFW Post 7293 will hold Memorial Day services at several locations May 29.

• 9:30 a.m.: Cementon Memorial on Main Street/Route 329, Cementon

• 10 a.m.: Doughboy Memorial at Park and South Church streets, Egypt

• 10:30 a.m.: Egypt Park Memorial at Hillcrest Lane and Curt Simmons Drive, Egypt

• 11:30 a.m.: Whitehall Veterans Memorial at the Whitehall Township Municipal Building, 3219 MacArthur Road. The Hokendauqua and Fullerton American Legions will join the Egypt VFW in conducting this service.
