Edward J. Scott
Edward J. Scott “Scotty,” 96, of Upper Saucon Township, died May 6, 2023, in his home. He was the husband of Nancy Scott for 68 years. Born in Mauch Chunk, he was the son of the late Hugh and Fannie (Conway) Scott.
He owned Scott’s custom made Boombas Co. and produced thousands of instruments for the last 30 years.
He was a veteran of World War II in the U.S. Navy and was present in the Japanese harbor when the Japanese surrendered aboard the U.S.S. Missouri.
He was a charter member of the VFW Post 8067 in Mauch Chunk and served as its commander in 1950-1951.
He was a member of the “Valiant 26” Memorial Band and served as its president for several years. He was a member of The Sentinels Drum and Bugle Corp. and served as its president for two terms. He was a charter member of the Happy Boombadeers since 1974 and was a member of the Barbershop Quartet of the Lehigh Valley and a member of the MORA Club chorus of the YMCA.
He belonged to the Hibernians of the Lehigh Valley, was a member of the Quakertown American Legion and a lifetime member of the VFW Upper Saucon Fire Co., Catholic War Vets and Ridge and Valley Gun Club.
He was a member of St. Joseph Church and sang as a tenor in the parish choir for 36 years. He was known as one of the leading “Irish tenors” and performed often as the lead tenor in many Lehigh Valley jobs.
He was employed by Bethlehem Steel for 34 years, retiring in 1982.
He is survived by his wife; son, Edward and his wife, Kelly; daughter, Carol and her husband, Kurt; son, Michael and his wife, Kim; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Terry, who died in 2015.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. May 17 at St. Joseph Church, 5050 St. Joseph’s Road, Coopersburg. A viewing will be held 9 to 10 a.m. May 17 in the church. Arrangements were made by the Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Homes, Emmaus.
