Carole M. Derricott

Carole M. Derricott, 83, formerly of Cetronia, died April 28, 2023, in her residence at Lehigh Commons. She was the wife of the late William T. Derricott for 49 years.

Born in Mahanoy City, she was a daughter of the late William and Miriam (Cooper) Tempest.

She was a 1958 graduate of Mahanoy City High School. In 1959, she completed studies at McCann School of Business. In 2004, she became an honorary “Huskie” alumna of Bloomsburg University.

She was a bookkeeper at Mahanoy City Lumber and with Columbia Accident and Health Insurance Company.

She was active with the Presbyterian Church of Catasauqua where she was as an elder and helped to start the monthly community lunch program.

She was a member of Orwigsburg Chapter 424 Order of the Eastern Star. She assisted her late husband, the director of parks and recreation for South Whitehall Township, for more than 32 years as an arts and crafts instructor and summer playground counselor. For more than 25 years, she worked at The Great Allentown Fair in show ticket sales and the fair week employment trailer.

She is survived by a daughter, Joanne L. Hafner with husband Robert; a granddaughter, Laura L. Hafner; a niece, Tammy Reyers; and two nephews, James Kern with wife Susan and their children William and Trisha and Robert Kern with wife Helga.

She was predeceased by two sisters, Sylvia Kern with husband Robert and Jeanne Derrish with husband Robert.

There will be a funeral service noon May 12 in the church, 210 Pine St., Catasauqua, 18032. The family will receive guests at a luncheon following the service.
