The Emmaus High School baseball team kept its winning streak going and had another unbeaten week last week, its second in as many weeks.
After winning all three games two weeks ago, the Green Hornets had two games on their scheduler. And they came out victors in both Eastern Pennsylvania Conference home matchups, defeating Central Catholic for the second time in four days, 5-1 last Monday, April 24, and then followed that up with a 10-3 victory over Northampton the next day.
After beating the Vikings on the road on Friday afternoon, three days before, the two teams met once again, this time at Church Lane Park. The result was the same as the Green Hornets scored three runs in the first and second innings and one each the next three to take control of the game early.
William Fleck and Emmit Budick both finished with two hits and two RBIs, each scoring at least one run. Colin Wilson also tallied two runs batted in and Noah Hogan added an RBI, a hit and a run scored. Shane Ohl threw a complete game for the win.
Against the Kids, Emmaus had two big innings, the second and the fifth, bringing home four in the second and five in the fifth. Budick, Zach McEllroy and Cohen Schadler each recorded two hits to lead the lineup, with the former adding three RBIs. Cole Moreau contributed two RBIs. Ryan Latchford won the game on the mound, going 6.1 innings and striking out six batters.
Emmaus enters this week at 11-5 overall and 10-3 in the conference. The Hornets were at Allen this past Tuesday, are at Parkland today and host Whitehall Thursday in a busy three-day span this week. The regular season concludes the following week.
