EHS boys lax looks to build momentum for playoffs

The Emmaus High School boys lacrosse team had its final full week of the 2023 regular season last week and was able to build some positive momentum going into the postseason, winning three of four games, including one against an Eastern Pennsylvania Conference opponent and another three out of conference.

The Green Hornets defeated Southern Lehigh at home, 15-7, in a makeup game Monday, April 24, and then followed that up one day later with a loss to Easton for their first conference loss, falling 12-6. Emmaus then defeated Northwestern Lehigh on the road, 10-3, last Thursday before taking down Central Bucks East at home, 10-4, last Saturday morning.

Against the Spartans, Will Barber led the offense with six goals and an assist. John Hughes and Jack Restino both had hat tricks. Ashton Fehr tallied two goals and one assist and Liam Rooney rounded out the scoring with a goal and an assist. Sam Rainford and Ben Goldman each made two saves in net.

Against the Red Rovers, the Hornets held a 6-5 lead at halftime, but did not find the back of the net the rest of the way. Barber recorded a team-best four goals, while both Restino and Rooney had one goal apiece. Rainford made 12 saves.

Emmaus led from start to finish versus the Tigers. Rooney led the team with three goals, while Barber, Hughes and Fehr recorded two goals each and Michael Chies added one.

The Hornets raced out to a 5-0 advantage after the opening quarter and then an 8-1 edge at halftime. Aidan Garrett broke out and recorded a hat trick, while Barber had two goals and two assists and Hughes added two goals. Restino, Chies and Reilly Bechtel all had a goal and Rooney contributed on assist. Rainford stopped seven shots.

Emmaus entered this week at 11-4 overall and 6-1 in the conference, good for second place behind Parkland, which is 13-2 and 8-0. The Green Hornets hosted the Trojans this past Tuesday and play at Pleasant Valley on Thursday to conclude the regular season.
