Lower Macungie Township planning official remembered with a moment of silence
At the April 5 Lower Macungie Township Board of Commissioners meeting, Rudy Fischl was remembered as a past member of the Lower Macungie Township Planning Commission.
Fischl died in March.
The commissioners requested a moment of silence in Fischl’s honor.
Two proclamations were presented to former members of the township’s parks and recreation board. Lisa Gantert was a member from 2008 to 2021 and was recognized for her years of service. Thomas Deily was a member from 2009 to 2021 and also was recognized for contributions to the township.
In other meeting news, there were two vacancies on the township planning commission. Action was taken to appoint two new members. Dr. Ozias Moore was appointed with a term to expire Jan. 1, 2024. Martine Minninger was appointed with a term to expire Jan. 1, 2026. Both appointments were approved by the commissioners.
There were several bid awards for some upcoming projects within the township.
The 2023 Sanitary Sewer Relining project was up for bid and SWERP came in with the low bid of $438,683. The commissioners approved the awarding of the project.
Asphalt Maintenance came in with low bids for two projects; the Ultra Thin Bonded Wearing Course project for $266,932 and the Micro Surfacing project for $250,558. Both bids were approved by the commissioners.
Asphalt Maintenance also bid the lowest for Chip Sealing and Quick Set Fog Seal for $321,371. This bid was approved by the commissioners.
An executive session was held after the board’s workshop March 27. The subjects were land acquisition, pending litigation and personnel. Another executive session was held after the commissioners meeting April 5 for land acquisition.
A revision to the fee schedule was approved. It involves swimming lessons and lap swimming fees.
