Lehigh Christian Academy evacuated; eight people treated

In a news release dated April 27, Salisbury Township Police Department officials detailed an incident at a school in the township during which children and adults felt sick.

Police officers and Cetronia EMS arrived at Lehigh Christian Academy, 1151 S. Cedar Crest Blvd., at approximately 9:36 a.m. April 27 for the report of a sick person.

A report of a second sick person was received by authorities and Western Salisbury Volunteer Fire Company responded to assist at the school.

“Initial air quality checks were performed with no obvious levels that were cause for concern,” authorities said in the news release.

The school was evacuated for the rest of the day as a precaution.

“Reunification efforts were made to get the children with their respective families,” according to the news release.

Six juveniles and two adults were transported to a hospital for evaluation and treatment, according to authorities.

The building was monitored with metering equipment throughout the day.

Multiple emergency organizations assisted at the scene.

In October 2022, first responders were called to the school for an unknown odor.

Four people were taken to the hospital for evaluation at the time of that incident.
