Allen Township Board of Supervisors met April 11 to discuss a request pertaining to the replacement of the Howertown Road bridge.
The project manager has asked to use the northwestern corner of the fire department property for a modular office trailer and a portalet.
A 10- by 30-foot or 10- by 50-foot trailer would house Pennsylvania Department of Transportation inspectors and staff. The portable office would be in place until the completion of the project, at a cost of $500.
Supervisors discussed allowing the crew to use the fire department building or a building by the field house. However, township Solicitor Lincoln Treadwell pointed out PennDOT may not allow that as its contracts are specific in scope.
The board approved a motion directing township Manager Ilene Eckhart to reach out to further discuss alternate options and how the crew plans to get electricity to the trailer.
