Brian Wessner is announcing his candidacy for East Penn School Board Director.
“A 1988 graduate of Emmaus High School, my father was a teacher for over 30 years at Emmaus High School while my mother worked in the administration offices. I am father of four, two daughters and for the last 10 years also raising my two nephews. Two graduated last year and are attending college, one daughter is currently a junior at EHS and a nephew is in seventh grade at Lower Macungie Middle School.
“I am an active member of the Superintendent’s Parent Advisory Council, serving on the facilities inquiry team and a board member for EPIMC (The East Penn Instrumental Musicians’ Club).
“I am not part of either of the larger groups currently seeking office. I am just a concerned citizen and parent that wants to keep the excellence of EPSD thriving. I chose to run for school board because I feel there are many issues that are and will be facing our board and community over the next four years.
Different groups, parents, students, have concerns and requests that are a very important to them. Some of the major issues are safety (both student and facility), facilities, DEI (Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion) and budget; as a board member I will work to understand and work on these issues.
Being an independent critical thinker, I want to work with all parties for the most equitable resolutions.
“I currently work for a large medical device company in their customer experience and operational excellence team. I work to understand large programs and processes to see where we can gain efficiencies and through process improvement and data insights. We do this through working closely with all the stakeholders to really understand the issues and dig into the root causes. One of my main skills is the ability to work on several key projects, while keeping the larger perspective in focus. For the school board that larger goal is the safety and education of our kids.”
