Allen/East Allen townships: Howertown Road bridge replacement scheduled to start this week

The Howertown Road bridge, north of Route 329, will be limited to northbound traffic only for an extended period of time, starting the first week in May, to facilitate the long-awaited replacement of the bridge over the Dry Run Creek.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation project will replace the structurally deficient bridge with a precast concrete box culvert.

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1335 Old Carriage Road, Kreidersville, will hold a gift card bingo May 7.

Doors open noon, and games start 1 p.m.

Tickets must be purchased in advance. Limited seating is available.

Tickets include all games, specials and a door prize entry.

Call the church to get tickets or purchase them at church after Sunday service.

East Allen Township Volunteer Ambulance Corps’ spring festival is scheduled for May 20 at Bicentennial Park East, 5450 Liberto Lane. The festival is a fun event showcasing local breweries, distilleries, food trucks, wineries and local businesses.

The purpose of the festival is to enjoy an afternoon in the community park and raise money for the ambulance corps.

Lappawinzo Fish and Game Association, 25 Lappawinzo Road, Allen Township, has its monthly breakfast planned for 8-11 a.m. May 21.

It is open to the public. There is a cost.

Wildlands Conservancy is planning to hold a PreK Pathfinders: Forest Friends event, set for 10-11 a.m. May 30 at Wayne Grube Park, 1200 Willowbrook Road.

Learn about animals that may reside in the park, then embark on a wildlife expedition. There is no fee, but space is limited, so register online.

PreK Pathfinders is a series of programs for 3-5 year olds and their adults.

Registration for East Allen Township’s 2023 summer camp has begun for campers 6 to 12 years old. Camp will be limited to 125 campers.

Camp is scheduled to be held 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Mondays through Fridays June 12-July 29.
