Charles Walkup

Charles Walkup, 73, of Emmaus, died April 30, 2023. He was the husband of Patricia (Baele) Walkup. They celebrated 50 years of marriage in 2022. Born and raised in Lafayette, Ind., he was the eldest child of the late Harold and Harriet (Hoyt) Walkup.

He was a graduate of Jefferson High School in 1968. He met his wife while at Purdue University earning a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering and a master’s degree in science and industrial administration.

In 1973 they moved to the Lehigh Valley and he worked at Air Products, retiring in 2004.

He enjoyed traveling, especially regular family trips to Ocean City, N.J. He volunteered annually for the Allentown AAUW Book Sale and joined the Emmaus Rotary Club after his retirement. He appreciated history and exploring family genealogy with his sisters. He served as president of Meadow Pool in Emmaus and was active in the Boy Scouts. He was the beloved in-house videographer for nearly every East Penn choir, band, theater and talent show featuring his kids and their friends.

He is survived by his wife; children, Lisa Kyriienko, of Odenton, Md., Michael, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; granddaughters, Mia and Ali; sisters, Pat, of Arlington, Va., Deb and her husband, Jim Toole, of Osceola, Ind.; sister-in-law, Peggy and her husband, Spencer Aronson, of Durham, N.C.; brother-in-law, Henry Baele and his wife, Andrea, of Highland Heights, Ohio; nieces and nephews.
