LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

A fine day for a ball game

Press photos by Nate Jastrzemski The air was cool and the sky was clear April 2 as Historic Bethlehem Museums and Sites hosted an old-timey ball game at Burnside Plantation. Teams played in the lower field while scores of spectators sat on folding chairs and blankets nearby, enjoying hotdogs. The Athletic Base Ball Club of Philadelphia and the Brandywine Base Ball Club played using 1864 rules and wearing period uniforms - which excluded gloves. Brandywine won 24-8.
