To commemorate “National Poetry Month” in April, the Lehigh Valley Press presents the 18th annual Student Poetry Project.

Students whose poems were chosen for first place presented their poems and were interviewed on the April 24 broadcast of “Lehigh Valley Arts Salon” on WDIY, 88.1, wdiy.org, Lehigh Valley Public Radio and NPR affiliate. The program is on the WDIY website.

The Student Poetry Project adjudication committee met March 28 to read more than 150 poems submitted by students from schools in the Lehigh Valley region.

The Press Student Poetry Project received a 2018 Professional Keystone Press Award and a 2010 Pennsylvania Newspaper Association Foundation Award.

The Lehigh Valley Press thanks the students who entered their poems and the school teachers, parents and guardians who encouraged them.
