EHS girls T&F takes first place at Palisades
The Emmaus girls track and field team continued its dominant season with a first-place finish in the six-team Pirate Invitational held at Palisades High School last Friday afternoon.
The Green Hornets finished with 260 points, easily outdistancing second-place Northampton with 152.
Hailey Reinhard took first place in the 400-meter race, while teammate Madelyn McCartney took the 1,600. The Emmaus hurdlers also did a fine job, with Kayla-Rayne Quinones winning the 100-meter race and taking second in the 300.
The Emmas relay teams were simply awesome at Palisades, winning all three races. Abigail Burnett, Paige Inman, Morgan Tand and Mya Cooper did the job in the 4x100, while Reinhard, Emma Paradise, Kyla Moore and Addison Johnson took the 4x400. Isabella Scarlata, Addison Shank, Sophia Kovaliski and Addison Kleinle claimed the 4x800 relay.
Catherine Sirignano has been a winner all season and that trend continued as she took the shot put and discus throw. Freshman Claudia Walls has been a pleasant surprise for Hornet fans and coach Kami Reinhard this season. She claimed the high jump title over 10 other girls.
Emmaus won the title with several strong performances, gathering points in the process. Burnett finished second in the 100-meter dash and Cooper took third, while Inman was third in the 200 and Kleinle was second in the 800. Johnson was third in the 1,600 and Kovalski was second in the 3,200m and Shank was third.
Hadlee Horvath and Isabelle Russo finished second and third in the 100-meter hurdles, respectively. Anna Farnschlader had a great day, finishing second in the discus and third in the shot put, while teammate Sheldyne Pierre was second in the high jump and third in the triple jump.
The Hornets will host Bethlehem Catholic on April 17 and then head east for a meet with Liberty on April 20.
