While most students and teachers will be out of school for the summer, activity will continue on the premises with various capital improvements.

At Springhouse Middle School, the parking lot needs complete reconstruction, along with removal and replacement of the sidewalk, installation of three storm sewer inlets, and placement of a new storm pipe.

The board approved a quote of $40,500 from Cowan Associates for professional services relating to engineering and construction administration at the site.

Director of School Services David Keppel estimates the cost of the Springhouse project at $500,000-$600,000.

Bids have not yet been received.

At Kernsville Elementary School, the sidewalk will be reconstructed and a canopy will be installed.

Cowan Associates will provide professional services at a fee of $23,250 for engineering, construction and site management.

At the Ironton Elementary School, the main stage curtain and valance will be replaced and installed by Center Stage Rigging and Lighting at a cost of $11,089.

The same company will install the main stage curtain, valance, rear stage curtains and rigging system at Fogelsville Elementary School for $20,546.

The TV studio at Kratzer Elementary School will receive a NewTek Tricaster from Applied Video Technology at a cost of $21,972.

Moving on to another topic, the board approved a quote of $23,760 from Pro-Vision for 10 camera video systems to be installed on the newest buses.

Lastly, the board accepted an offer from FASTSIGNS for the purchase of 200 23-inch by 18-inch signs at a cost of $5,815.

The signs will be placed along property lines at all 12 district buildings.

Dr. Tony Naradko, director of safety and security, noted the signs were recommended by the Pa. State Police.
