Leonard E. Nuss, 81, of Ballietsville, North Whitehall Township, died April 23, 2023, in Lehigh Valley Hospice Inpatient Unit, Allentown.

He and his wife, Joan Marie (Mercaldo) Nuss, were married 43 years.

Born Sept. 15, 1941, in Ballietsville, he was the son of the late Earl R. and Lucretia (Baer) Nuss.

He owned and operated Nuss Inc. Trucking and was president and co-owner with his sister, Marlene, of Nuss Enterprises, both in Ballietsville.

A member of Union United Church of Christ, Neffs, he also was a member of Ranger Lake, Ironton, and he volunteered helping to develop the Ironton Rail Trail.

In addition, he also served on the North Whitehall Township Planning Commission.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by children Kathleen J. Teay (Joel) of Florida, Karen Sue Kemmerer (Mark) of Perkasie, Kevin T. Nuss (Susan) of Coplay, and Veronica Benner (James) of South Carolina; sister Marlene M. Steffy (Donald) of Virginia; 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. April 28 in Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville, with the Rev. Kayli L. Freeman officiating. Family and friends may pay their respects from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home.

Interment will follow the service at Union Church Cemetery, Neffs
