Director of Operations for Cetronia Ambulance Corps Ed Boyle gave a presentation to Upper Macungie supervisors at their April 6 meeting.
He reviewed call volume provided to the township in 2022.
Boyle said there were 3,029 incidents, 3,229 emergency units dispatched, 1,948 Advanced Life Support and 1,281 Basic Life Support calls, and 56 times mutual aid was requested from the county.
“The busiest day of the week in Upper Macungie Township was Wednesdays,” Boyle said. “The busiest hour of the day was 5 p.m.”
He said the average out-of-chute time was 58 seconds.
“Chute time is calculated from when our dispatch center receives an emergency and our crews in the ambulance are with wheels turning toward that emergency,” Boyle explained.
The average response time was 10 minutes and 22 seconds, he added.
Boyle said response time is calculated by the time the dispatch center receives the call to when the ambulance arrives on scene.
“The average time on task was 55 minutes and 16 seconds,” he stated. “That would be from when we received the emergency to when the ambulance cleared to the hospital after they dropped off the patient.”
Pennsylvania law requires EMS agencies to respond when dispatched to any emergency, Boyle told supervisors.
“Cetronia was dispatched for 1,503 emergencies outside its primary coverage area in 2022, Boyle stated. “Of those emergencies, 1,055 were transported by Cetronia Ambulance.
He said from January through March of this year, the corps had 689 incidents, 742 emergency units dispatched, 464 Advance Life Support and 278 Basic Life Support calls, 13 mutual aids, at a 1.8 percent mutual aid rate.
Boyle said his busiest day is now Thursday and the busiest hour of the day is 9 a.m.
He added the average chute time is 56 seconds, average response time for emergency incidents is 8 minutes, 20 seconds and the current average time on tasks is 54 minutes.
