James “Jim” “Gabby” A. Gabovitz, 81, of Northampton, died April 13, 2023, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest. He was the husband of the late Mary M. (Gallagher) Gabovitz.

Born in Palmerton, he was a son of the late Andrew and Mary (Jubik) Gabovitz.

He was in the U.S. Navy.

He was a tool maker at Western Electric.

He was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Walnutport, where he was a lector and was on the choir.

He was active with the Allentown Hiking Club, Lehigh Gap Nature Center and Marriage Encounter.

He is survived by two sons, Joseph and wife Janet Tashner and Andrew; four grandchildren, Samuel, Stella, Vanessa and Brooke; a sister, Florence and husband Dr. Ronald Lentz; a brother, Mark and wife Holly Gabovitz; nieces; and nephews.
