PRESS PHOTO BY DANA GRUBB USASkills winners in District 11 from Bethlehem Area Vocational Technical School attended the BAVTS board meeting in March to introduce themselves to boardmembers. Seven first place winners moved on to the state competition at the Hershey Lodge and Lebanon Expo Center April 12. Brian Moser, construction management academy instructor, said the students displayed “their trade skill and leadership abilities at an extremely competitive level. We are very proud to have them representing BAVTS at the PA State USASkills competition.” Winners are: Emma Geiselman, a 10th grade student from Freedom HS who placed first in job skill demonstration; Kaylee Dougherty, 11th grade from Freedom HS who placed first in restaurant services; Senior Gabe Horn from Northampton HS who placed first in precision machine: senior Wallace Eisenhart from Northampton HS, who placed 2nd in graphic communications; Zachary Hepner, a 10th grader from Northampton HS who placed first in HVAC and refrigeration; senior Zach Rickert from Northampton HS who won in masonry; Caleb Gotch, a junior from Northampton HS who won in automobile maintenance & light; and, Northampton HS senior Noah Kapustic, who placed first in CNC milling specialist. USASkills is a partnership between students, teachers and industry who work together to ensure America has a skilled workforce.
