The North Whitehall Township supervisors’ April 3 meeting began with an announcement that the State Liquid Fuels allocation would be $653,467.01.
Following this was the treasurer’s report.
Seth O’Neil explained that for the second month in a row the township had a positive cash flow in the general fund.
He added that in April, an additional positive cash flow would come in with tax collections and other funding.
In other matters, Solicitor Tom Dinkelacker explained the resolution for the parks and open space plan.
“We’re going to be considering tonight a resolution adopting the Comprehensive Parks, Recreation and Open Space Plan.
“It’s being done as an amendment to the comprehensive plan. If you were here, a number of months ago, you might recall we adopted the comprehensive plan.”
This first part was listed on the agenda as a public hearing in which a number of documents were introduced to become part of the record.
The public could comment or ask questions.
Resident Diana Cemler discussed her concerns about the proposal as she lives right behind Levan Park.
She saw there was a proposed concert venue and a skate park that abuts her property.
She said that was not the right place for the concert venue and the skate park to be located.
She would like the plan to be considered very carefully before being approved.
Supervisor Al Geosits explained that the comprehensive plan is just a general plan.
“They come in with a whole bunch of different proposals and different ideas,” Geosits said, adding they are very expensive ideas, so they probably won’t be built. “All these things cost money.”
Dinkelacker added his comments on the issue.
“It can be amended and, it’s like Al indicated, it’s not necessarily a blueprint,” Dinkelacker said.
“It’s more of an envisioning document than it is a blueprint of everything that is going to happen.”
Also at the meeting, Jedd Komlos was appointed to the recreation board.
Komlos is a Parkland graduate who moved back to North Whitehall Township recently after living in Maryland.
He is interested in being involved in the community.
An Earth Day Cleanup is scheduled for 9 a.m. April 22 at Laurys Firehouse Park. To register, email ccorona@northwhitehall.org with your name, number, and email so they can plan accordingly.
