To the Editor:
Judging by the lawn signs multiplying at intersections, we have a fairly large number of candidates for the upcoming East Penn School District election.
Having an array of candidates interested in our community’s education enterprise can only be good for all who care about children’s schooling as well as participatory government and leadership.
Given the number of candidates - some of whom are running together as slates - it seems crucial for voters in the community to understand candidates’ priorities and goals. And, yet, so far I have been unable to locate such information about our candidates.
I’d urge community groups or institutions to sponsor well-publicized, accessible and nonpartisan forums so the community can hear from each of the candidates - keeping in mind that some in the community do not participate in social media or even possess a computer.
