EHS names student of the week
Q. In what grade are you currently enrolled?
A. I am currently a senior at Emmaus High School.
Q. Please provide the first names of your family members.
A. My mother is Christina and my father is Travis.
Q. What is your favorite subject and why?
A. My favorite subject is history, as I find it interesting to study the many cultures and backgrounds of people who live in our world.
Q. Have you received any special awards or recognitions?
A. At Emmaus, I have received the Achievement in Literature and Achievement in French awards. Outside of school, the Academic Team, which I am captain of, has been a national qualifier for the past couple of years, finalist in last year’s Scholastic Scrimmage on PBS39 and has won numerous local level competitions. I am extremely proud that my indispensable teammates and I were able to achieve so much.
Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities? How has being involved in these organizations impacted my high school experience?
A. I am currently the president and captain of the Academic Team, secretary of the orchestra, and treasurer of the Emmaus chapter of National Honor Society. Additionally, I am a member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society and a Hornet Ambassador. Being a part of so many activities has let me meet so many new students, allowed me to pursue different areas of interest like playing the violin and provide valuable resources like the peer tutoring program through NHS.
Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?
A. Like many kids my age, my biggest challenge so far has to be the pandemic. I felt it especially rough to transfer to an online learning environment after so many years being taught in-person and the lack of social interaction was difficult as well. Luckily, I was able to quickly adapt to this unfamiliar teaching style and maintained contact with a lot of my friends.
Q. What is your next goal after high school?
A. My next goal is to pursue a bachelor’s degree in history at college, although I am undecided currently, with the eventual goal of becoming a teacher.
Q. Whom do you admire and why?
A. I most admire my parents for being able to provide me with the resources necessary for me to succeed in everything I wanted to and providing valuable experiences and opportunities I will never forget.
Q. For what would you like to be remembered?
A. I would most like to be remembered for my passion for history, my sense of humor and my encyclopedic knowledge of random facts that will never be applicable in any situation.
Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?
A. The best piece of advice I can offer would be to never stop trying. Sometimes things can be difficult to achieve and I know that first hand, but if you never stop trying to succeed, then, eventually, it will happen.
