The Viking baseball team battled in a Holy War against Bethlehem Catholic High School at Coca-Cola Park April 11.
Unfortunately, the Vikings fell to the Golden Hawks.
In other athletic news, the Allentown Central Catholic High School softball team defeated the Allen Canaries 10-3 April 13, with the whole team contributing to the win.
All our spring athletes are working hard, and will be honored at the spring sports awards event scheduled May 2.
ACCHS cheerleading tryouts will occur 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 22 and 1-4 p.m. April 23 in Rockne Hall. If interested, you must be present on both days. Please wear athletic clothing and sneakers, have hair pulled up and refrain from wearing jewelry. Enter through the back alley doors of Rockne. Viking Nation wants amazing cheerleaders like you!
The Class of 2024 is holding a Viking Glory Dodgeball Tournament 7-9 p.m. April 28 at the St. Luke’s Fitness and Sports Performance Center, 702 Union Blvd., Allentown.
Teams will have five to eight players. There is a small fee for players as well as an admission cost for spectators. Participants may sign up during lunch, but space is limited, so register quickly.
The last shadow days for this school year will be April 25 and May 9. Central invites seventh and eighth graders or high school transfer students to spend a day with a current ACCHS student, where they will attend classes, eat lunch in the cafeteria and experience the Viking Nation. The two final days to shadow are open now and may be scheduled at https://www.acchs.info/visit-acchs.
ACCHS is offering free 2023 Summer Enrichment Camps for rising fifth through ninth graders.
Camps will run 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday at Central.
The schedule is as follows: “Around the World” July 10-14, “All About Sports” July 17-21, “Animal Kingdom” July 24-28 and “Super Sleuths” July 31 to Aug. 4.
These summer enrichment camps are funded by a Diocese of Allentown benefactor, so they are free to all students.
The goal is to register 60 different kids for each week of camp. Register early to ensure your camper gets a spot. For more information and the registration form, go to www.acchs.info/post/acchs-summer-camps.
Lehigh University is holding rowing camps for students ages 13-18. Sessions take place after school Tuesdays and Thursdays or Saturday mornings during April. Students may also attend summer camps. No experience is required.

ACCHS has begun a Viking prayer chain, to support our Viking family in prayer. Anyone may send prayer petitions to the chain, but please keep them appropriate and concise. The online weekly newsletter includes current prayers and the form to send your own.
