Warren aims to retain commissioner seat

Democrat Jeffrey J. Warren has announced his campaign for re-election as Whitehall Township commissioner.

Warren, a professional geologist and geophysicist for 29 years, has been on the board for five years. He is a longtime resident, with wife, Kathleen, and three children, Jeffrey, Mikayla and Hope.

Warren said he is results-driven and believes public safety such as fire and police, a vibrant retail corridor, well-maintained infrastructure and quality recreational amenities are key to a sustainable township.

Warren, a member and past president of the Whitehall Township Industrial and Commercial Development Authority, said he was instrumental in receiving a Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program itemization in the state budget that led to the township receiving a $1.5 million grant toward the new police station.

During his term, Warren said he also wrote successful grant narratives for police car and license plate readers, the Whitehall Parkway pavilion and restoration of the historic Mickley-Prydun Farm, with awards totaling $555,000. Warren said he was also a contributor to Congressional federal funding opportunities for stormwater management facility upgrades.

Warren sees these efforts as a way to return tax dollars to Whitehall to stretch local dollars for the betterment of the community.

“Quality amenities lead to quality neighborhoods,” he said.

Warren is active with the historical society and environmental advisory council and is a member of the Whitehall Area Rotary Club. On the legislative level, he initiated a motion to ensure the office of treasurer is subject to an annual audit to restore taxpayer confidence.

“Taxpayers should know every dollar collected is accounted for and spent wisely,” Warren said.
