Margaret “Peggy” Rose Steirer, 94, of Allentown, died April 16, 2023, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest. She was the wife of the late William R. Steirer. Born in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Julia H. (McElwain) McGonigle.

She graduated from the Sacred Heart Hospital School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse for 62 years until retiring and she worked the last 20 years for Dr. Gerald Miller.

She was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Allentown and a former longtime member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Allentown, where she was a member of its choir.

She is survived by a daughter, Margaret A. and her husband, Walter Mahouska; sons, William R. and his wife, Katherine, Richard J. and his wife, Tracie, Jeffrey T. and his wife, Lori, Thomas E. and his wife, Michelle; sister, Mary Ann McGonigle; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Edward McGonigle.

A calling period will be held 9 to 10:15 a.m. April 20 at the Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, 225 Elm St., Emmaus, with a Mass of Christian Burial, 11 a.m. April 20 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 1040 Flexer Ave., Allentown.
